Amelia Earhart.  Autograph letter signed on letterhead of her father, Edwin S. Earhart.  In it she mentions Neta (Neta Snook) her first flight instructor.  The date indicates she and Neta were still in the process of obtaining Amelia's first airplane and the reference to her father is likely related to his having given her money toward the plane.  Wonderful early letter of the aviatrix written in pencil, but unfortunately some madman had it encased in lucite.  Still marvelous as a very early letter (dated 5-10-21 by Amelia at upper right) to her friend Lloyd Royer:   'Dear Lloyd -   I don't know what message dad wanted Neta to transmit to you about your coming over to inspect his latest acquirement of a sort but in any case Peter Barnes passed on it and there is nothing to be done with the facilities at hand so please do not bother to come.  I think dad imagines all mechanically inclined gentlemen like (underlined) to play with broken down automobiles.  I didn't know Neta had left and I am afraid the neighbor is shocked at my writing to you (underlined).  Amelia'
