M. Dent \u0026amp; Sons Ltd, E. P. Dutton \u0026amp; Co. Inc., 1950.  Small quarto (129 × 100 mm). Original black limp calf, publisher's red and gilt device to front cover, spine lettered in gilt, marbled endpapers, top edge gilt. From the library of John Gielgud, sold after his death.  Signed on the front free endpaper by Laurence Olivier, John Gielgud and Ralph Richardson.  All three actors appeared together in the film version of Richard III (1955), Olivier repeating his star turn as first seen on stage in the Old Vic London season in 1944. \"With Ralph Richardson as a Buckingham wittily described by Paul Dehn as 'a Mr Baldwin who has read Machiavelli' (Dehn, 76) and John Gielgud as an exquisitely lyrical Clarence, the film also had a star power impossible to achieve at the Old Vic\" (ODNB). It is more than likely that this book was signed by them during filming.\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003eIn a suede-lined burgundy morocco drop-back box with gilt-lettered morocco label to spine and front cover by Bayntun-Riviere. A very good copy.  The edition is the New Temple Shakespeare, first published thus in 1935, this impression dated 1950.\u003c\/div\u003e\nAbout Fine","brand":"1950","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":41033789178029,"sku":"9885","price":3500.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0284\/7646\/products\/9885.jpg?v=1636224957","url":"https:\/\/www.nrarities.com\/products\/1451700-1950-shakespeare","provider":"The Gillespie Collection","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
