Original green cloth, title to spine in gilt, concentric frames blind-stamped to boards.  Illustrations: Decorative first page of play.  Condition: Spine slightly scuffed, bumping to board edges, a few spots of cockling on boards. A very good copy.  First and limited edition, first impression, one of 310 copies printed on paper. This scarce edition is decorated with wood engravings by Charles Ricketts (18661931), an outstanding art nouveau designer with notable work for commercial publishers including Thomas Hardy's Tess of the d'Urbervilles (1891), John Gray's Silverpoints (1893) and Oscar Wilde's The Sphinx (1895). This copy contains the Heinrich Vogeler-designed bookplate of Alfred Heymel (18781914), found on the front pastedown.
