First issue with green cloth and gold decorated endpapers and top edges gilt. Original green woven cloth with gilt lettering and bold gilt leaf border motifs both covers and spine. Ten superb color plates using a novel color process by Jessie Willcox Smith (5) and Violet Oakley (5), as well head-piece and ornaments throughout in tint. A superb copy, near fine, of Smith and Oakley's first color book illustrations under the tutelage of Howard Pyle who produced and edited the book as a showcase for his two new, budding students.
