Shakespeare.  (Nahun Tate adaptation).   First separate edition of Shakespeare's Coriolanus.  The Ingratitude of a Common-Wealth: Or, the Fall of Caius Martius Coriolanus, As It Is Acted at the Theatre-Royal.  London: Printed by T.M. for Joseph Hindmarsh, 1682.  Small quarto, modern three-quarter brown calf, dark brown morocco label; pp. (9), 64.   "This tragedy appeared in print for the first time in the Jaggard [First Folio] of 1623.  Nahun Tate's adaptation in 1682 is the first known separate edition, while Tonson's printing of 1734 is the first separate edition with unalderated text" (Jaggard, 296).  In his dedication, Tate calls this "a work meerly of my own Compiling; having in this Adventure Launcht out in Shakespear's Bottom."  The fifth Act is wholly by Tate.  STC 190.  Title page closely trimmed, some scattered foxing.  Exceptionally good condition.  Scarce.  Ex Bauman private 04/12/06.
