This month, we
are featuring our
World Coin Gallery.
You'll find several outstanding examples
of Medieval and Renaissance British
masterpieces including sovereigns of
Mary Tudor, Elizabeth I and James I.

By the way,
if you're a collector, you'll enjoy this book
|
|
The Mercy of the Puddles is a witty, fast-paced satire of
smuggled antiquities and the New York art world. The story
centers on a beautiful run of fifth century Sicilian
tetradrachms and some ancient pottery shards bearing graffiti.
A recently downsized computer expert, Fred Munson, learns there
is similar graffiti on the foot of the Met's fabled Nikias Vase.
His discovery leads to a relentless search for the lost works of
Euripides, a pursuit which takes him on a wild journey through a
fleabag hooker hotel, a late-night talk show, the Soho loft of a
beautiful Russian curator and the back offices of the
Metropolitan Museum.

| Incidentally,
in
our more than forty years of buying and selling rare coins, we’ve found
that knowledgeable collectors invariably possess seven key traits.
We like to call these the Seven Cardinal Rules of forming a
collection.
If
you're curious as to which of these
might apply to you, click The
Big 7 button on the left of the page.
One thing is certain: if
you're still reading this, there's no question about it -- you
clearly have the makings of a truly gifted collector.
Focused.
Alert.
Intent on learning.
Congratulations.
You have a rare gift, one you share
with Norweb, Hazeltine, Gulbenkian and a mere handful of other
distinguished collectors. We’ll get along well together.
Enough said. Time to
see some rare coins.
When you return, please do take a moment to
consider our Seven Cardinal Rules of
collecting.
Even if you find nothing of interest in our
gallery, the time you’ve spent with us will not have been in
vain.
